Letters from Whitechapel™

Sir Chester Cobblepot and Giochi Uniti are pleased to announce the second edition of Letters from Whitechapel™!

On sale since June 2013

Whitechapel District, London, 1888. The streets of this overcrowded, fetid slum are home to the most impoverished and unfortunate souls in London. Prostitutes ply their trade on almost every street corner. These women are called the wretched, and a more fitting name cannot be found. In a place where nothing could get worse, it has. A killer walks these streets, bringing the lives of the wretched to a terrible end. Jack the Ripper has arrived.

In Letters from Whitechapel™, two to six players play Jack the Ripper and five noted detectives pursuing him in Victorian London. Jack the Ripper must outmaneuver the detectives in the tangled streets of the Whitechapel District to escape after committing his horrible murders. Meanwhile, the detectives must use clever deduction and their superior numbers to hunt Jack the Ripper down before he can kill again or elude them forever. Will history’s most notorious serial killer get away again? Or, this time, will he be brought to justice?

New Components

Sir Chester Cobblepot has improved many components of Letters from Whitechapel™, based on the comments and reviews of several players from all over the world.

- Jack the Ripper screen: Its usability is improved. The map is bigger, and the chart of the Special Movement tokens is now shown on it, so players don’t have to look at the rulebook during the game. The new physical design allows the screen to stand up by itself and better protect the secret information of Jack from the other players.

- Wooden tokens: Through repeated use of the Women, Patrol, and Time of the Crime tokens, these components can become marked. Now they are made of wood to make it harder for them to become damaged and marked.

- Markers: Some of the plastic discs now are different colors to help them stand out more on the game board. The Clue markers are now yellow and the False Clue markers are blue.

- Letters: These are optional components, so they were transformed into paper sheets instead of cardboard tokens to reduce the production cost. On the back of those sheets are the Letters’ effects described in detail, so players don’t have to look at the rulebook during the game.

- Rulebook: The rules of the game are unchanged, but the official errata have been integrated into the rulebook. The format of the rulebook was changed to allow for thecreation of an upgrade kit for players who bought the first edition of the game but want to upgrade their copy with the new components. In this way all players can enjoy this version of the game without buying an additional copy of the game – a Cobblepot promise we want to stand by.
